This past week, GY&K President Travis York was interviewed by the LA Times, where he discussed the connection between music and fashion. York is the co-founder of 1band 1brand, a resource that connects emerging bands with brands through a proprietary online platform, social media, live events, among other unique offerings.
“Given the rise of owned channels, fashion brands are beginning to look like publishers when it comes to regularly deploying original content,” York said. “However, consumers will tune out if they only hear a product pitch through these channels. Instead, brands need to present content of interest to their customers and music can be a great solution. Taking that a step further, we believe that true collaboration with emerging musicians provides even more value given their potential growth, flexibility, entrepreneurship, social media savvy, and more.”
