“Blank Canvas” Contest and Limited-Edition Sneaker Featured on NBC10 Boston

As an amazing follow-up to GYK Antler’s inaugural Blank Canvas sneaker design competition – an initiative created in partnership with YORK Athletics, Building Impact and the Boston International Newcomers Academy (BINcA) to provide young people in diverse and underserved communities with education, mentorship and access to creative career paths – the team at YORK brought one of the winning designs to life!

Using YORK’s Henry Mid Canvas, Jean Dario, now a high school junior, painted a beautiful landscape of his homeland of Haiti featuring its national flower, the Hibiscus. YORK then used photo technology to translate the painted canvas effect onto the cage of the Frank. From 11/30 through 12/12, 100% of profit from sales of The Frank by Jean Dario & the Henry Mid Canvas will fund a scholarship for Jean Dario’s continued education.

NBC 10 Boston spent some time with us at Boston International Newcomers Academy to capture Jean Dario’s live reaction when he held his namesake sneaker for the very first time and learned about the scholarship. Check out the feature segment here.
