GYK Adds 17 Creative Entrepreneurs to the Team – Including Executive Creative Director Mike Sullivan

On the heels of our best year in company history, we continued to see tremendous success in 2021. We brought on 11 new client partners last year alone, and of course, with new clients comes new talent! Forty new GYKers came on board in 2021, 17 of whom were in the second half of the year. So, without further ado, allow us to introduce you to the members of our fam who have joined since July!

To lead the charge for the creative department, Mike Sullivan has joined the team as Executive Creative Director, bringing his entrepreneurial spirit and decades of award-winning work for leading global agencies and brands to help fuel creativity throughout GYK. Mike spent most of his ad career on Madison Avenue, writing and leading creative for TBWA\Chiat\Day, Deutsch NY, Publicis NY, DDB NY and Havas Worldwide. He has experience across a vast variety of categories and Reckitt Benckiser brands like Air Wick, d-CON, Rid-X and K-Y, Liberty Mutual, Heineken, Barnes & Noble, Subaru, Cadbury and more. His work for Dawn Dish Liquid was heralded by Fast Company, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times as a prime example of how to effectively handle a public relations campaign. While leading creative direction for the New York Lottery, the largest lottery in the country, Mike launched a Powerball game with “Yeah, that Kind of Rich,” which AICP archived for the Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. The campaign won two Silver Lions at Cannes, D&AD, NY Festivals and was voted Best of the Best by the World Lottery Association. See more about Mike here.

We’ve also welcomed a variety of creative leaders. Ellen Foord has joined as a Creative Director, where she’ll be helping on various clients and new business projects. Ellen comes to us with a diverse set of agency experience. Most recently, she was a Creative Director at Boston agency Forge Worldwide. She’s led creative projects for brands like Liberty Mutual, Oracle, Timberland, LaCroix and more and in her free time, you can find Ellen doing various restoration projects for her business Arcs and Wrenches. Our second addition was Senior Art Director Dan Hlivka. Also coming from a variety of big and small agencies, Dan most recently was a Senior Art Director at CommCreative and has worked on clients like PUR Water, Jack Daniel’s, PopCorners, Carnival Cruise Line and more. To grow our design capabilities for GYK clients and YCC ventures, Cassie McElaney joined as a Design Director. Cassie has been designing for over a decade for brands like Boston Cannons, Major League Lacrosse, Spartan Race and most recently ’47. When not designing on Adobe, Cassie is an avid chalk artist who designs on the chalkboard.

The creative team also welcomed two Art Directors to the team. First, Jillian Pacheco came from Small Army, where she worked on brands like MegaFood, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Dedham Savings Bank. Second, Isabella Ciano was most recently a freelance Art Director for various small businesses, and prior to being freelance was an Art Director at CommCreative. Connor Donovan also came on board as a Junior Art Director after completing a post-grad internship at Hill Holliday. To work in partnership with our Designers and Art Directors, we also welcomed J.R. Roach as a Senior Copywriter. Prior to joining GYK, J.R. spent over six years at Hill Holliday as a Copywriter for brands like Dunkin’, Bank of America, Party City, Planet Fitness, Stop & Shop and more. J.R. is a literal rock star, having spent nearly two decades on the road as a professional drummer for a variety of bands. Rounding out our creative additions, Katherine Worth joined the copy team as a Junior Copywriter, having come from CommCreative.

To help keep creative projects on time and within budget, we welcomed Colleen Fahey as a Project Manager. Colleen has over eight years of project management experience on the brand side for brands like Timberland, Puma, Wayfair and iRobot. On the account side, Jessie Vogel and Meredith Machulski both joined the team as Account Coordinators to maintain the day-to-day communication and relationships with our clients. Additionally, to keep our projects in motion (literally), Sammy Honeywell joined our video production team as a Video Editor, where she’ll support a variety of video production projects.

Both our IT and media departments have grown two-fold. To support the various IT needs that come with a growing agency, Taymour Mansi and Jason Marcil joined as IT Specialists. Taymour is a recent grad from Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he did various help desk co-ops. Jason is coming from a career in the music industry, where he worked as a booking agent in Boston and managed the IT infrastructure of the company, leading him to go back to school to study computer science and subsequently join us. The media department welcomed former media intern Kiera Bussiere full-time as a Media Coordinator following her graduation from Hofstra University, and also welcomed Nicole Zaidan as an Ad Operations Associate. Nicole’s a recent Northeastern grad who brings co-op experience at brands like Havas and iRobot.

We’re so excited to welcome these dynamic and creative folks to the team. Now, let’s put faces to the names!
