On Saturday, March 12, I attended the fourth annual Lady Project Summit in Providence, Rhode Island, where whip smart women from all over New England gathered to empower and educate each other through a range of workshops, panels, networking opportunities and keynotes. I attended several workshops including: “Embrace Your Weird: From Anxiety to Authenticity,” “Demystifying Vulnerability,” and “#AskForIt: Negotiating While Female.”
The workshops were interactive and insightful. I walked away with actionable learnings to take with me into both my career and personal life:
- We’ve all had unique life experiences, but we can use them to propel forward.
- There’s a formula to powerful negotiating and you can prepare yourself and stack the odds in your favor.
- A refreshing reminder that facing challenges head on with vulnerability and honesty is a strength and it can help others open up as well. A truth I see daily from the creative team here at GYK Antler.
Having worked on blogger and brand collaborations here at GYK Antler, as well as being a blogger myself, I was invited to speak on the blogger panel. I shared the stage with some incredible women, each with unique perspectives about what it takes to be a successful blogger in a crowded and highly sought-after space. We talked strategic monetization, establishing a level of honesty you feel comfortable with and marketing your creative skills (not just your Instagram account.) Most importantly, remembering why you started. If you reach a point where you don’t love what you’re producing, it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate. And that goes for just about anything!
Overall, I loved attending this summit with fellow movers and shakers, and I’ll definitely be participating next year…If they’ll have me!
